The History Of The Internet Has Made Life Both Simple And Complicated

By Damian Papworth

It is the year 2010 and a vast majority of people do their everyday living with web searches. We use them to shop, work and find a spouse. Advertisers are able to promote their products to people around the world thanks to the History Of The Internet and the availability it has brought to everyday citizens as opposed to the military personnel it was originally created for.

This functional tool was originally developed as a means of communication for military personnel in the event other communication methods would become unavailable due to a nuclear attack. Prior users of the internet included engineers or scientists hence the original name, ARPANET which is the abbreviation for advanced research projects agency.

When the internet was originally designed there were no commercial advertisements as it was primarily used for an education and back up resource tool for the government. Email made its debut in 1972 and has since exploded into a commercial advertisement phenomenon. When the first search engine Archie made its debut in 1989 it made it possible to research online as opposed to a public library.

Prior to this time there were only a handful of usable resources available. Universities were using the internet and its small amount of resources as a way to inventory or catalog recourse related to those on campus. The first interface that was user friendly became available in 1991 and made the organization of files possible with a simple menu. In 1998 windows 98 upped the anti with internet explorer and brought with it the encouragement and development of numerous possibilities.

This invention just like most other creations has progressed and continued to improve. High speed internet services have made it possible to download files in an instant as opposed to prior years when research involved hours of reading and searching through local library information. The 1960s invention of this communication backup service was intended for government use only has progressed to make like simpler for all who have access.

Prior to the nineties there were a small handful of individuals with access to the computer, a service provider and its abilities. The internet has changed lives. It has made communication possible among those who otherwise would have never spoken to one another. It has brought the classroom into living rooms making it possible for anyone to get a college education.

The History Of The Internet is not a tremendous long one; however, it is a rewarding history. Life has become both simple and complicated with the availability of world wide web searching. The history will only continue to develop and improve as more providers become available and the speed of use only continues to increase.
